Prospective Intern Resources

One of the most exciting and innovative DI programs in the US

The WWDI may be completed by interns who:

  • Already have obtained a graduate degree from an accredited institution.

    • Interns who already have a graduate degree will choose our non-degree track (DI-only track) and will complete their internship full-time (30-40 supervised practice hours per week) in as little as 8 months.

  • Have been accepted into a graduate program or are applying to one of our four combined graduate program options.

    • Interns who plan to complete their graduate degree and internship simultaneously will choose our degree track and complete their internship part-time (16 supervised practice hours per week) in 24 months.

Upon application, interns will upload their acceptance letter or transcript if already enrolled in a program. Those looking to apply to one of the programs we partner with can do so in our supplemental application. All interns must show proof or acceptance, or apply to one of our partnered institutions for their application to be considered.

WWDI is a distance program. To learn more about what a distance program is, click here.

To graduate, the intern must obtain a graduate degree, complete the minimum 1000 supervised practice hours, all didactic hours, assignments, rotation evaluations, practice exams and complete an exit interview at program completion. Interns have up to 150% of the time allotted to complete these requirements. which is a total of 12 months for the non-degree track, and 36 months for the degree-track.

The intern will receive a Verification Statement following successful completion of the dietetic internship. Their name will then be submitted to the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) by the WWDI Program Director as evidence of eligibility to sit for the (RD) credentialing exam.

The WWDI has been granted Full Accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

Go to the CDR website for more information on dietetic internships.
